The Hallie Linacre Fund

The Hallie Linacre Fund was created on behalf of Maddie’s best fried and mentor, who died acutely in her sleep on May 8, 2020 of Sudden Cardiac Death. Hallie was 20 years old, going into her senior year at Nichols College in Massachusetts, studying accounting and getting ready for her role as Captain on the Nichols College soccer team. She was #37 on the Chariho Girls Soccer team and #27 at Nichols College.

Hallie was a year older than Maddie and acted as a “big sister” as Maddie started her high school career. They were so very much alike and shared such similar values in their commitment to their teams, their friends and most importantly, their families. They worked hard, they laughed harder, and they inspired each other and all those around them.

Hallie was by our family’s side from the moment she heard the news of Maddie’s passing. She was instrumental in the weeks following, truly a person we could depend on to help in any way she was asked, despite her own greed. She reached out to so many of Maddie’s friends, even those Hallie didn’t know herself. She came home for every possible event to celebrate Maddie and was even able to start fundraisers at Nichols College in honor of Maddie. Hallie was determined to keep her friend’s legacy alive and to help establish The Maddie Potts Memorial Field House. Sadly, now it’s our turn to honor Hallie.

Scholarships in Hallie’s name in the amount of $1,137.00 have been awarded to several high school and college students since Hallie’s passing. In 2021 and 2022, five $1,137.00 scholarships were awarded, 3 to Chariho Class of 2021 students and 2 to Chariho graduates who are pursuing higher degrees.

Applications can be found on the Chariho school website for future scholarships. We are honored to be able to sponsor the Hallie Linacre Memorial Soccer Tournament and Celebration of Life annually each spring.
